Email support@edenphotos.io and we'll do our best to help. ### How does Eden Photos actually work? A very small thumbnail of each image is generated and sent to a secure server for processing. The server sends back tags and categories, and the results are stored locally on your computer. A reference is saved to your account for synchronization and to avoid using credits on the same image more than once. ### Are my photos stored anywhere in the cloud? No, not at all — we respect privacy. The app temporarily uploads a small thumbnail of each photo for recognition and analysis, and deletes it right after. Your original files never leave your machine. ### Is this a one-time process? How will my new images be processed? After the initial processing completes, Eden Photos keeps working in the background and periodically checks for new images in the folders you add for processing. Leave it running and your library stays indexed and categorized. ### I already have tags on some of my images — will Eden Photos affect those? No. Existing tags and keywords are added to your library of tags and remain visible inside Eden Photos. To exclude an image entirely, move it to a folder that is not synced to Eden Photos. ### Can I organize my photos without a paid plan? Yes. Manual tagging, bulk tag editing and custom albums are free. Paid plans add automatic tagging and categorization with AI. ### What exactly am I paying for? Eden Photos is subscription-based. It depends on how many images you have, your internet connection and your machine. Only very small chunks of data are transferred, so it should finish quickly. ### Do I need to be a pro to use this? Not at all — Eden Photos was built to be super easy. Add the folders you want to organize, then browse and search by tags and categories. You can organize manually for free or use AI on a paid plan. ### Is it ok if I buy 400 seats? Yes, and it will send us over the moon :) But you'd better do it only if you have a photo agency with 400 employees who want their photos organized. --- # Photo keywords that travel with your files: a practical migration test If you want to keep your photo organization when you change apps, check where your keywords are saved. A label visible inside one app may live only in its catalog. Keywords written into an image's metadata can travel with the file, provided the next app reads them and the transfer preserves them. Before tagging a whole library, run the following test on copies of ten photos. It gives you a concrete answer about your own tools without risking years of organization. ## What exactly needs to survive? Start with three separate things: the image, its descriptive metadata, and the app's organization. They are related but not interchangeable. Your JPEG can survive a move while its album membership disappears. A folder can retain its name while every file inside loses its keywords during export. The [IPTC Photo Metadata Standard](https://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/iptc-standard/) defines fields for describing images, including people, places, creation details, and rights. It gives software a shared vocabulary; it does not guarantee that every application preserves every field. For this test, focus on keywords. Treat album membership, ratings, edits, and facial recognition data as separate migrations that need their own checks. ## Build a ten-photo test folder 1. Copy ten representative JPG or PNG images into a new test folder. Keep the originals and a separate backup untouched. 2. Include some images with existing keywords and some with none. Choose files from the formats and devices you actually use. 3. Write down the existing keywords before opening the folder in a new organizer. 4. Add one distinctive keyword, such as `garden-demo-2026`, to two test images. This makes it easy to distinguish a real metadata transfer from an app remembering an old catalog entry. 5. Add one image to an album as a comparison. You are deliberately testing whether albums and keywords behave differently. Keep a simple record for each file: original keywords, keyword added, operation performed, and keywords visible afterward. Ten rows are enough to spot a workflow that silently drops information. ## Run three different transfers **Copy the file.** Copy a tagged image to another folder and inspect it in a second metadata-aware application. Does the distinctive keyword appear? Check the actual keyword field rather than relying only on search results, which may come from a cached index. **Export the file.** Export through the app you normally use for resizing or sharing. Open that exported copy in the second application. Export options may determine which metadata survives, so record the settings alongside your result. **Change computers or storage.** Transfer a copy using your normal method, such as an external drive, then inspect it again. If your workflow uses sidecar files, include those in the test too. A successful direct file copy does not prove that a messaging app or an image export will behave identically. If the keyword disappears, stop and identify the step that removed it before expanding the migration. Keeping the original copies makes this an investigation rather than a recovery exercise. ## How this fits Eden Photos Eden Photos supports JPG and PNG organization on Mac and Windows. Manual tagging, bulk tag editing, and custom albums are available on the free Starter plan. Paid plans add AI tagging and categorization. Metadata writing and optional macOS Finder tags are settings to check when deciding how tags should be available outside Eden Photos. Add your test folder first, review the tags, and run the transfer checks above before adding the rest of your library. Do not assume a Finder tag and an embedded keyword will be read by the same tools. AI processing also has a separate privacy consideration: Eden Photos sends a small thumbnail to a server for analysis and deletes it after processing. Original image files remain on your computer. You should be able to locate the distinctive keyword in the destination application's metadata display after a fresh import. Existing keywords should still be present. Record any exception by format or transfer method, and keep albums separate from the keyword result. Once that works, expand to a larger batch and check it before moving the full library. We opened a stock-photo demo library in Eden Photos for Mac, let the app process it, and captured the results. This walkthrough shows the real interface and the steps you can repeat with your own images. The gallery contained **299 images** when processing finished. The screenshots use stock photos from [Lorem Picsum](https://picsum.photos/), whose collection comes from Unsplash, rather than personal customer photos. They show one demonstration on version 2.2.17, not an accuracy benchmark or a promise that every library will produce the same results. ## 1. Start with a small folder [Download Eden Photos](/download) for your computer and add a folder using **Add** in the gallery. For a first trial, use a small selection that includes several subjects: landscapes, objects, flowers, or buildings. Copies are useful if you want to experiment with metadata settings before bringing in a larger collection. Sign in to use the account features. Automatic tagging and categorization require available AI credits; manual tagging and custom albums are also available on the free Starter plan. Check the [current plans](/#pricing) before choosing how to process a larger library. Enable **Auto-organise** and allow processing to finish. The progress indicator shows the active work. During our demo it counted through the imported images; once the work was complete, the indicator disappeared and the categorized photos were ready to browse. Processing time will depend on your library and connection, so this example does not give a fixed time estimate. ## 2. Browse a category Open **Albums** to see the categories populated by the app. In this demo, Nature & Landscapes contained 103 photos, Beaches & Seaside contained 36, and Sunrises & Sunsets contained 20. It is useful when you remember the general subject of a photo but not its filename. Browse a category first, then inspect individual pictures to see what the app recognized. ## 3. Inspect the words attached to one photo Select a thumbnail. The **Selected Image** panel shows its category, file information, and keywords. We selected a river landscape from the demo set. Similar terms can overlap, and automatic labels still benefit from review.* Use **Edit +** when the keywords need adjustment. A useful label describes what you can see or adds context you know. If an automatic term is misleading, correct it instead of relying on it for future searches. Names of trips, projects, or events may require your own context; image recognition cannot supply everything you remember about a photograph. ## 4. Search for a subject Return to **Gallery**, enter **mountains** in the search field, and inspect the matching images. You do not need to rename each image to the subject shown in it.* Try a term you have just seen in a photo's Keywords panel. This gives you a concrete way to check the connection between the labels and the search results. If a result surprises you, select that photo and review its keywords. If a photo is missing, check whether processing has finished and whether its labels include the term you searched for. ## 5. Check how your organization travels Finding a photo inside Eden Photos and preserving keywords outside the app are separate checks. Review the metadata-writing settings before assuming another app will see the same labels. Copy a test image and inspect its keywords in the other tool you use. Album membership is a separate concept from embedded keywords, so test those expectations separately. When the small test behaves as expected, add the rest of your library and review a sample of the results. --- # Privacy Policy By using Eden Photos, you certify that you are at least 18 years of age and that you agree to the terms of this privacy and security policy. "Eden Photos" refers both to the application installed on your device and to the supporting back-end provided on our servers. Here's how Eden Photos handles your photos and information: ## What information do we collect? In order for you to use certain Eden Photos features, we may ask you to provide a user name and a valid email address. We use this information to identify you and communicate with you. We store the following information associated with your Eden Photos account on our secure servers: 1. Your account name, email and login details. We may also log your IP address. 2. Metadata concerning your photos (for example, image name, size or other characteristics). We may also upload and temporarily store your photos on cloud servers where necessary to perform the automated machine analysis needed to provide our service. 3. Access Tokens: these allow Eden Photos automatic read-only access to your chosen photo services, if any, so that you can view your photos in Eden Photos. 4. Device ID or phone number. 5. Depending on the policies of the photo services you use, we may collect certain information about you from your photo service accounts (including social networking applications like Facebook), such as gender, age, occupation, hobbies, interests, zip code, contacts or other information that you have provided to the photo service or made public or otherwise available. We analyze this type of data anonymously. 6. If your photo contains location metadata, we may store that location data in association with your account in the photo metadata and also in our database. However, we analyze this location data only in aggregate and anonymously. 7. We store other information about your use of Eden Photos, such as how many photo services and photo sources you are using with Eden Photos, when each of your devices was last used with Eden Photos, and other aggregate information about your use of the Eden Photos application. This information is analyzed anonymously. We store the following information temporarily or permanently on your device: 1. Small thumbnails of your photos that are sent for analysis. 2. The extracted category and tags information for each image. All communication between your device and the image analysis servers is SSL-encrypted for your privacy. We may use different in-app analytics services that can track user interface events, location data, and device and mobile OS type. These services will only report information to us in aggregate and anonymously. ## How do we use your information? Eden Photos uses this information to provide and improve the services and to communicate with you. We may email you from time to time to inform you of changes to this policy, changes to the Eden Photos End-User Licensing Agreement (EULA), or other important information. We may request users of Eden Photos to complete questionnaires or surveys regarding your experience with Eden Photos. Your responses are solely used by us to assist in improving our services or the features and functionality of Eden Photos. Participation in such surveys is voluntary. We use text files called cookies to provide us with information about visits to [edenphotos.io](https://edenphotos.io). In particular, we may have deployed Google Analytics which use first-party cookies to track visitor interactions. Browsers do not share first-party cookies across domains. The analytics applications we use also collect the IP address of website visitors in order to provide us with a sense of where our visitors come from geographically. Google Analytics collects information anonymously and reports website trends to us without identifying individual visitors. If desired, you can block cookies in your browser settings. ## Disclosure of your information We may disclose your information as follows: 1. **Third-Party Service Providers**: we may, from time to time, outsource some or all of the operations of our business to third-party service providers. Entities with which we partner for special projects or initiatives are provided with the minimum amount of information needed for the purpose of accomplishing their tasks and we restrict how such service providers may access, use and disclose your data. 2. **Business Transfers**: in the event that Eden Photos sells or buys any business or assets, Eden Photos may disclose your information to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets. 3. **Legal Investigations and requests**: we may disclose your information to law enforcement agencies or other governmental agencies when required to do so or when, in good faith, we believe it is necessary in order to comply with legal obligations. 4. **Protection of Eden Photos and others**: we may release data when we believe this release is appropriate to enforce or apply our policies and other agreements, or protect the rights, property or safety of Eden Photos, our employees, or others. This does not include selling, renting, sharing or otherwise disclosing your information for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments made in this Privacy Policy. ## Choice In order for you to make use of Eden Photos and for us to provide services, it is necessary for us to collect, store and in some cases transfer your information to third parties. Any such transfers will be solely for the purpose of fulfilling our obligations to Eden Photos users. If you object to such transfers you may opt-out but this may prevent you from being able to make use of Eden Photos. We will provide an opt-out link in promotional emails from Eden Photos to enable you to opt-out if you no longer wish to receive these. ## Your Consent By using Eden Photos, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. "Processing" means using cookies on a computer/handheld device or using or touching information in any way, including but not limited to collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining, modifying, and disclosing information, any of which activities may take place in the United States and/or in the European Union. If you reside outside the U.S. or the European Union, your information may be transferred to the U.S. or the European Union and processed and stored there under U.S. or the European Union privacy standards. By using Eden Photos and providing information to us, you consent to such transfer to, and processing in, the U.S and the European Union. ## Data Retention and Deletion of your data You can delete content data stored on your device simply by using the Cleanup tab of Eden's Preferences dialog. Once deleted, all data is considered irrecoverable. We accept no obligation to recover your deleted data on request so please make this decision carefully. ## Security Eden Photos takes reasonable security measures such as password protection and encryption as we deem appropriate to protect the information we collect from misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. Eden Photos employees authorized to access your data are required to take the appropriate safeguards to protect your data. All communication between your device and our servers is SSL-encrypted for your privacy. While we do use care to protect your information, you should keep in mind that Eden Photos is run on software, hardware, and networks, any component of which may, from time to time, require maintenance or experience problems or breaches of security. You are required to keep your Eden Photos passwords confidential. Eden Photos is not responsible for misuse of passwords. ## Notification of changes to this policy We may update this policy from time to time. We may send a notification email to your address if we change this policy and/or you will be informed that our terms, which include this Privacy Policy, have been updated in a terms acceptance screen within Eden Photos or in related software such as our Uploaders. As between you and Ninefold, Ninefold will retain all intellectual property rights in the App, subject only to the licenses expressly granted herein. The App and related intellectual property rights are protected by law, including but not limited to United States and EU copyright, trade secret, and trademark law, as well as other applicable laws and international treaty provisions. You must not remove any product identification, copyright notices or proprietary notices or restrictions from the App. Nothing in this EULA will be interpreted to grant any implied license to any intellectual property of Ninefold. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App or otherwise reduce to human-perceivable form, except and only to the extent that the right to do so is mandated under applicable law notwithstanding this limitation or as expressly provided for in this EULA. ## Third Party Components Some portion of the software provided with the App may be open source, freeware, or other software that is included in or with the App and provided to Ninefold under license from third parties ("Third Party Components"). Such software is provided to you subject to the terms and conditions of the software license agreement applied to such Third Party Components by third parties. Use of the Third Party Components by you will be governed entirely by the terms and conditions of such license, and not by this EULA. To the extent the terms of this EULA conflict with the terms of such third party licenses, the terms of such third party licenses will govern. As used in this agreement, the term "Information" means any information that you upload, transfer or provide to us in association with your use of Eden Photos, including but not limited to your email address, image files, and user posts. You retain all right, title and interest to any and all Information you provide, input or upload to Eden Photos. You grant Ninefold a limited right to use such Information solely for the purpose of providing the services offered by the App and your Account (collectively referred to herein as the "Service"). This permission also extends to third parties we work with to provide the Service. ## Your Rights in Images You represent and warrant that you own all rights in and to the images you access, use or share via the App and that such images and your use of such images or other Information with the App, will not violate any copyright, trademark, right of privacy or publicity or literary or dramatic right of any third party. You agree that the Service may upload and temporarily store thumbnails of your images on Ninefold's servers to enable their automated machine analysis. ## Consent to Use of Data You agree that Ninefold may collect and use technical data and related information including but not limited to technical information about your device, system and application software, and peripherals, that is gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, and other services to you (if any) related to the Service. Ninefold may use this information as long as it is in a form that does not personally identify you, to improve its products or to provide services or technologies to you. ## Right to Monitor Ninefold has no obligation to monitor any information on the Service. Ninefold is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, appropriateness or legality of images, files, user posts, or any other information you may be able to access using the Service. ## Sharing The Service may provide features that allow you to intentionally share your information and images with others or to make them public. Ninefold has no responsibility for any activities (such as copying or reposting of the information by other users) that occur once you share such information and images. ## Prohibited Use a) You agree not to transmit through the Service any unlawful, harassing, libelous, abusive, threatening, vulgar, obscene or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. You agree to only use the Service for lawful purposes, in compliance with all applicable laws including, without limitations, copyright, trademark, obscenity and defamation laws. Unlawful activities may include (without limit) storing, distributing or transmitting any unlawful material, attempting to compromise the security of any networked account or site, or making direct threats of physical harm. b) You are prohibited from violating or attempting to violate the security of the Service by any and all means including without limitation the following: (i) accessing data not intended for you or logging into a server or account which you are not authorized to access; (ii) attempting to perform any technical security integrity review, penetration test, load test, denial-of-service simulation or vulnerability scan; (iii) attempting to interfere with service to any other user, host or network, including, without limitation, via means of submitting a virus to the Service, overloading, "flooding", "spamming", or "crashing"; (iv) forging any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in any email; (v) interfering with or disrupting the Services or servers or networks connected to the Service, or violating any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Services; (vi) accessing the Service by any means other than by use of the App. ## Usage limits In order to ensure a safe and effective experience for all of our customers, Ninefold reserves the right to limit the amount of data that may be accessed by You in any given time period. Ninefold reserves the right to limit usage which may be harmful to other users or to the security and stability of the Service provided by Ninefold. Usage limits may be amended at Ninefold's sole discretion from time to time. ## Third Party Websites and Services The Service may enable access to third party websites and services (collectively and individually referred to as "Third Party Services"). Ninefold does not warrant or endorse any such Third Party Services and assumes no liability or responsibility for such Third Party Services or for any other materials, products or services of third parties. Your use of Third Party Services is at your sole risk. Ninefold makes no representation that the Third Party Services are appropriate or available for use in any particular location. Ninefold reserves the right to change, suspend, remove or disable access to any Third Party Services at any time without notice. In no event will Ninefold be liable for the removal of or disabling of access to, or loss of data by, any such Third Party Services. ## Third Party Distributor Disclaimer You acknowledge that as between Ninefold and Third Party Distributor, Ninefold is solely responsible for the Service. Third Party Distributor is not responsible for and does not provide any warranty, support or maintenance services for the Service. You agree that Third Party Distributor is not responsible for any product claims including but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the Service fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; (iii) claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation; (iv) claims that the Service or your possession and use of the Service infringes a third party's intellectual property rights, and Third Party Distributor has no obligation to investigate, defend, settle or discharge any such claims. You agree that Ninefold shall not be liable to You or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the Service, or any part thereof. ## Termination by Ninefold You agree that Ninefold may, without prior notice, immediately terminate, limit your access to or suspend your Account, any associated email address, and access to the Service. Cause for such termination, limitation of access or suspension shall include, but not be limited to, (a) breaches or violations of the EULA or other incorporated agreements or guidelines, (b) requests by law enforcement or other government agencies, (c) discontinuance or material modification to the Service (or any part thereof), (d) unexpected technical or security issues or problems, (e) extended periods of inactivity, (f) engagement by you in fraudulent or illegal activities. Further, you agree that all terminations, limitations of access and suspensions for cause shall be made at Ninefold's sole discretion and that Ninefold shall not be liable to you or any third party for any termination of your account, any associated email address, or access to the Ninefold Services. ## Termination by You You may terminate your Account, any associated email address and access to the Service by submitting a termination request to Ninefold. ## Limitation of Liability Notwithstanding any damages that you might incur, the entire liability of Ninefold under any provision of this EULA and your exclusive remedy for all of the foregoing will be limited to the amount actually paid by you for the App. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL NINEFOLD BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS OR CONFIDENTIAL OR OTHER INFORMATION, FOR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, FOR PERSONAL INJURY, FOR LOSS OF PRIVACY ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE OR OTHERWISE IN CONNECTION WITH ANY PROVISION OF THIS EULA, EVEN IF NINEFOLD HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES AND EVEN IF THE REMEDY FAILS OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. Some states/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. ## Commercial Software The App and accompanying documentation are "commercial computer Software" and "commercial computer Software documentation," respectively, pursuant to DFAR Section 227.7202 and FAR Section 12.212, as applicable. Any use, modification, reproduction, release, performance, display or disclosure of the App and accompanying documentation by the U.S. Government will be governed solely by the terms of this EULA and will be prohibited except to the extent expressly permitted by the terms of this EULA. ## Compliance With Export Laws You represent that you are using the App for your own personal use and not for resale or export. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the United States and other countries ("Export Laws") to assure that the App is not (1) exported, directly or indirectly, in violation of Export Laws, or (2) used for any purpose prohibited by Export Laws, including, without limitation, nuclear, chemical, or biological weapons proliferation. You may not download, export or re-export the App: (i) into, or to a national or resident of, any country to which the United States has embargoed goods; or (ii) to anyone on the United States Treasury Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals or the U.S. Commerce Department's Table of Deny Orders. By downloading or using the App, you are representing and warranting that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of, any such country or on any such list. ## Modifications We may revise the EULA from time to time and the most current version will always be posted on our website. If a revision, in our sole discretion, is material we will notify you (for example via email to the email address associated with your account). By continuing to access or use the Services after revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised EULA. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Services. ## Copyright Ninefold respects others' intellectual property and we ask that you do too. We will respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement if they comply with the law and are properly provided to us. We reserve the right to delete or disable content alleged to be infringing and to terminate repeat infringers. ## Governing Law and Interpretation This EULA is governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria. The parties consent to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Sofia, Bulgaria. In the event that any provision of this EULA is held to be unenforceable, this EULA will continue in full force and effect without said provision and will be interpreted to reflect the original intent of the parties.
